"G-O" is Franklin Heights' outreach program,
which is based on Jerry N. Tidwell's "G-R-O-W" (God
Rewards Our Work) outreach program. Under
this proven-effective approach, church members are asked to commit just one
evening each month to outreach...with several different avenues of outreach from
which they can choose. And it's all backed by strong training that
encourages and builds confidence in each participant.
The foundation of this program focuses on three basic
presuppositions as the basis for outreach:
- People's need for God.
- God's desire to have fellowship with people.
- The Master's own plan of evangelism and outreach.
Jerry Tidwell developed his "G-R-O-W" program around five principles of outreach and evangelism that would help in the process of building a winning team:
- Sowing and Reaping - God's biblical principle of harvest. The expectation of harvest must be preceded by a season of labor.
- Involving every member - Every member of the congregation could be involved and not be asked to do something with which they would be uncomfortable.
- Having fun with outreach - This program is intended to move people from obligation participation to success-driven, enthusiastic participation.
- Making quality time greater than quantity time - Commit to an hour of outreach each month.
- Reaching out by divine appointment - A "faith" principle that assumes that God, through the Holy Spirit, is already at work in the hearts and lives of individuals.
