Growing Deeper

At Franklin Heights, we believe that the strong, stable, and solid life of a Christian comes from their deep roots in Christ himself. Our Growth Ministries provide the opportunity for you to take that next step and let your roots grow deeper in him.

Men’s Ministry -The men’s ministry at Franklin Heights Baptist Church exists to meet men where they are in order to help them get connected to each other and draw closer to God. Our desire as a group is to be men who are difference makers in our families, church and community.

Prayer Advance - At the beginning of each year we travel to Goshen, VA to join hundreds of other men for two and a half days of spiritual renewal at an event known as The Men’s Prayer advance. For specific details, log onto www.christlifemin.org

Bible Study – There are several small gatherings of men who meet in different places at different times for the purpose of helping each other grow spiritually. These groups are not exclusive but are best when they remain small. Men desiring to start a group or join an existing group should contact Mark Griffith or Chip Studer.

Wild Game Night – Each spring the men sponsor a wild game night which is designed to reach out to men and their families who might not otherwise come to church.

Prison Ministry -We visit state prisons once a month on a Saturday for two hours. Twice a year in the spring and fall we have a weekend with the prisoners. Contact: Don Lowers 576-3298

Prayer Meeting – We meet each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Senior Adult Room across from the main office for approximately one hour. We take prayer requests and give updates on previous requests, then pray for individuals, church ministries, our church and the community. Contact: Stan Parris 483-9507

Sunday School – 9:45 -10:45 a.m. If you are not a regular attender of Sunday School, we would like for you to pick the Sunday School class that best suits your age group and visit the class or classes of your choice. We have many couples, men or women or single classes. Here you will experience a closer walk with God, close relationships with small groups, fellowship with fellow Christians, Sunday School social events and much more!  Contact: Fran Vaughan 483-5470

Missions – The heart of our local church is missions. Franklin Heights Baptist Church was begun as a mission effort. We believe our call from God is to go into all the world to share Christ. We are to do that by: going ( short-term, summer mission projects are offered); giving (our church supports international, national, state and local mission offerings); and praying (missions and missionaries are always part of our church prayer ministry. A special week of prayer for International Missions is held in December). Contact: Doug Hayes 483-9507

Women’s Ministry – Our Women’s Ministry exists for the purpose of inviting women to a personal relationship with the Lord and to a closer walk with Him. It also exists to encourage and to model a life of prayer and to equip women with Biblical principles through the study of God’s Word. With various opportunities of ministry within our church, women are enabled to enrich fellowship, are given opportunities to use their spiritual gifts in serving, and are given the opportunity to share in the call of the Great Commission and evangelism.  Contact: Marie Flora 483-1918

Women’s Prayer Breakfast – Each month, women gather for the purpose of prayer. We share prayer concerns, encourage each other through fellowship, and spend time praying for our church body, our many ministries, the leadership of our church, and our church’s outreach in the local community and in missions. The monthly prayer times are held at either the church or the home of a woman in the church and we encourage all women to participate in this sweet hour of prayer. Contact: Barbara Robertson 483-8601.

Women’s Bible Study – We offer three ongoing Bible Studies using study materials by Beth Moore or Kay Arthur. The Tuesday morning study is led by Marianne Baresciano, the Thursday morning study is led by Anne Hartman and Kristen Carr and the Thursday evening study is led by Carolyn Moore. The studies will begin in September. Watch the bulletin for dates, times, study titles and sign up details. Contact: Carolyn Moore 721-0019 Women’s Conference – The Women’s Conference is an annual event held at Franklin Heights Baptist Church for all the women of the community. The conference features a nationally-known speaker and talented musicians. It is an event that unites hundreds of women of all ages every year. Contact: Kathy Griffith 483-1287

Apples of Gold- A ministry in our church to help widows find fulfillment in their new journey. We acknowledge their needs, concerns and assure them they are not forgotten; encourage them with confidence in understanding there is an end to the suffering; assurance they will overcome: to strengthen their wholeness in God; to comfort and obey the Scripture; to pray; to inform others of their needs; to proclaim that God genuinely loves and has great compassion for widows. We have church families who adopt a widow to be part of their family. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month and have day trips, luncheons, etc. Contact: Carolyn Whitley 721-9448

New Member Contact – We are a ladies group whose mission is to greet other new women that join our church family by a phone call, a visit or maybe a brunch and to provide information about the ministries our church offers.  Contact: Donna Greer 493-7283 or donna@donnagreer.com
